Announcing The Humanist Readers!
Hello my dear scholars and literary enthusiasts!
As many of you know, I have wanted to launch a community book club, but I wanted it to engage you all in ways that was different from your ‘read along with me’ book club. I want to embody the Renaissance thinking of life-long learning and build a community where we can learn together. I am therefore thrilled to officially launch our community book club: The Humanist Readers!
Drawing inspiration from the Renaissance movement that valued deep learning and the human experience, this group is our shared scriptorium—a place to read, reflect, and discuss the best in literary fiction.
We will be selecting novels that challenge us, illuminate the human condition, and offer rich material for analysis. Think of this as your favourite university seminar, but without the grading!
What to Expect:
Monthly Literary Fiction Prompts: We will select novels based on their exceptional craft and thematic depth, picked from your shelf! No need to purchase books here
A slow, year long read of my all time favourite text, The Faerie Queene
Guided Discussion: Insightful questions and critical themes led by your Renaissance Academic (me).
A Community of Thoughtful Readers: A welcoming space to share your annotations and opinions.
The first book announcement is coming soon.* Grab your pens, turn off the digital distractions, and prepare to read with purpose. I can’t wait to see you all at our first discussion!
Happy Reading,
Cait
*While all the prompts will be made freely available, the discussions will be limited to paid subscribers. You will be able to subscribe for a particular month or the full year
